Hi friends, colleagues, and future friends and colleagues! I’m thrilled to announce the initial launch of Freelancer Dashboard, an app designed to help freelancers and creative agencies track clients, assignments, invoices, and more. Currently in an early beta, the core features for tracking clients and tracking assignments are up and running!
The app came out of my own needs as a freelance writer. I cobbled together a system to track clients and assignments and generate invoices using three different apps and sometimes clunky API connections between them. There’s still a lot of manual work needed to get from assignment to invoice, and it shouldn’t be this hard. Leaning on years of experience as a WordPress developer and building my own apps and websites, I started building Freelancer Dashboard at the start of 2024, and about a month later, it’s ready for you to try out!
The current iteration is free for all users, though paid tiers will be introduced in the future. I have a lot of big ideas for new features, but to start, here’s what to expect in the early version of the app:
- Client management: Add a list of your clients and rates to have the important details at your fingertips.
- Assignment tracking: Enter assignments, due dates, rates, and track progress using a simple and convenient assignment dashboard.
- Invoice preparation: When you mark a project as completed, it will generate an invoice list so you can easily bill your clients. In an upcoming update, premium users will be able to generate invoices automatically on a specified day of the month or with a single click.
As the app grows, I plan to make improvements to these three main functions, plus add integrations with popular accounting software. You may also see a simple expense tracker added, giving you everything you need to prepare taxes for your freelance business.
