Introducing the Official Freelancer Dashboard Android App
For more than a year, the Freelancer Dashboard Android app has been quietly evolving behind the scenes in private testing. Today, I am thrilled to finally share it with the entire community. This is a milestone I have been working toward for a long time, and I could not be more excited to bring the full Freelancer Dashboard experience to your phone in a clean, fast, and flexible native app.
If you have been using the web version at freelancerdashboard.com, you already know how important it is to have your invoices, tasks, expenses, time tracking, clients, and financial reports in one place. The Android app takes the best parts of the platform and puts them in your pocket so you can manage your business wherever your day takes you.
To start, you can install the app today directly from Google Play:

Why I Built the Android App
Freelancers work everywhere: in home offices, coworking spaces, airports, coffee shops, and sometimes from the front seat of their car between meetings. The dashboard on the web has been powerful, but I have always wanted to offer a native mobile experience that supports the way freelancers actually live and work.
During the last year of private testing, I have used the app personally to track expenses on the go, log billable hours as I start and finish work, check client notes before meetings, and manage invoices without needing to switch to a laptop. That real-world testing dramatically shaped how the app works today.
The Android version is built for:
- Speed: Instant access to the tools you need without loading the full web interface.
- Simplicity: A clean, familiar layout designed specifically for mobile.
- Offline-friendly workflows: Keep working even with spotty reception.
- Consistency: Everything you do syncs with your main Freelancer Dashboard account.
And yes, iOS will come later. The Android app is the first official native launch, and it is an important step toward a full cross-platform experience.
A Quick Note About Logging In
Right now, the app uses email and password login only.
Please enter the same login credentials you use on the main website. Other login methods (including social logins) are temporarily disabled while I finish ironing out some Android-specific issues. Once everything is fully stable, I will enable the additional authentication options.
If you hit any snags during login, please reach out. Your feedback will help shape the next round of updates.
What’s Inside the Mobile App
You will find all of the core features you rely on every day. Here is an overview of what is ready to use right from your phone.
Clean Dashboard Overview
The app opens with a streamlined dashboard giving you a quick overview of income totals, outstanding invoices, tasks, time tracking status, recent expenses, and quick actions. Everything is organized so you can see your day at a glance.
Time Tracking Built for Real Freelancers
Time tracking should be effortless. The native module lets you start and stop timers, assign sessions to clients and projects, add notes, and convert time logs into invoices. Whether you are between meetings or switching tasks, the app makes it fast to capture billable work that used to slip through the cracks.
Invoices and Payments
Invoices are fully accessible and editable from your phone. You can create new invoices, update drafts, mark invoices as sent or paid, review history, and check payment status. If a client emails you while you are out, you can send the invoice on the spot instead of waiting until you are back at your computer.
Task and Project Management
The mobile experience makes tasks lightweight and intuitive. Add tasks instantly, organize them by project or client, set due dates, and review what is coming up. It is ideal for jotting down tasks during meetings, phone calls, or while reviewing client messages.
Expense Tracking on the Go
You can capture expenses the moment they happen. Add expenses instantly, categorize them correctly, attach receipt photos, and sync everything to your financial reports. This alone can save hours during tax time.
Clients and Contacts
Your full client list is accessible on your phone, including contact details, rates, project history, notes, and outstanding invoices. Before walking into a meeting, you can quickly review your last interaction or project notes.
Financial Reports and Insights
The app includes income tracking, expense summaries, profit tracking, year-to-date reports, category breakdowns, and monthly trend insights. You can check your data anywhere, anytime.
Private Testing: What I Learned Over the Last Year
The app has been in private testing for more than a year across different devices, screen sizes, and usage patterns. This helped uncover real-world needs and refine the experience significantly.
Here are a few things the testing period made clear:
- Load times needed to be extremely fast.
- Navigation had to feel natural on small screens.
- Timers and expenses needed to be within a single tap.
- Reports needed to remain accurate and readable on mobile.
- Syncing had to be reliable even when switching networks.
This process shaped a core design philosophy:
- Build mobile-first experiences without sacrificing detail.
- Keep the interface approachable even for new freelancers.
- Make core actions fast enough to use with one hand.
- Ensure all updates sync seamlessly with the web platform.
The result is an app that is stable, intuitive, and ready for broad use.
Why This Matters for Freelancers
Freelancers thrive on flexibility. We need tools that travel with us, not tools that keep us tied to a desk. Bringing the Freelancer Dashboard experience to Android helps you stay organized, professional, and financially informed wherever you work.
Some everyday situations the app was built for:
- Logging hours right after finishing a client call.
- Sending an invoice while on the go.
- Capturing receipts the moment you get them.
- Checking project tasks during a meeting.
- Reviewing income trends before quoting a rate.
- Taking notes during calls or consultations.
- Tracking mileage or business expenses while traveling.
When your business tools match your lifestyle, everything becomes easier and more efficient.
Behind the Scenes: Building the App
The Android app was built using modern native tooling, focusing on smooth navigation, responsive layouts, battery-friendly background performance, encrypted storage, secure authentication, and stable syncing. Months of refining navigation, optimizing calls, and testing edge cases helped ensure the app feels like a natural extension of the dashboard you already know.
There is still more to come, and I will continue improving based on your feedback. But today marks a major milestone.
Future Plans and What’s Coming Next
Releasing the Android app is only the beginning. Here is what is coming soon:
- Additional login methods (Google, Apple, etc.).
- Push notifications for invoices, payments, and tasks.
- Automatic mileage tracking.
- Offline mode improvements.
- Dark mode toggle inside the app.
- Widgets for timers and income tracking.
- Enhanced client messaging tools.
- Improved small-screen financial reports.
- A redesigned invoice creation flow.
- Optimized tablet layouts.
Each update will make the app even smarter and more capable.
